Some of my very first memories were those of doing some sort of craft project with my mother and father. From the first moment I held a crayon in my hand I knew that I loved creating.
With parents who were both creatively talented in different ways...I had a lot to keep up with. And because of them, I learned so much about so many different types or crafts easily.
One of my favorite jobs was working for a crafting mail order company here in my town. I remember I went into the interview nervous not sure what they would ask me and I hoped that all that I did know would be somehow related to this job. The owners list of questions were all craft related....of course....and when I answered everything correctly, she hired me on the spot. Later on she confided to me that all of the other candidates had no idea what a rocaille bead was so how could they work there. After a month I was given a raise and I became part of the creative design team.
Later on in life I was lucky to be able to implement my knowledge of crafting into a career working for one of the countries top Needlework Design Companies. This afforded me a look into the other side of the hand crafts I knew and loved....the " behind the scenes" journey from an idea to a finished product in my home....and helped me better understand why things cost what they do on the retail front.
There is not a corner anywhere in my home that there isn't something craft related.
Be it the attic, basement and mudroom where the supplies are stored, or the spaces of my house that have the completed projects are on display...all of me and my creative heart is here....ready to inspire you.
